All About Sarah Poe
Sarah Poe is a senior at The University of Texas at Austin and a Houston native. Well, more specifically a Northwest Houston native. She was born in Houston in November of 1992, lived in The Woodlands for awhile, then spent from '96 living in Spring, Texas. She attended Klein High School and was extremely involved in the dance team as well as the Bearkat Yearbook and Klein Standleaders. Sarah has known she wanted to be a Journalism major at UT Austin for quite some time.
Sarah graduated in the top 16% of her class and will never forget the day she received her acceptance into UT. She is now a member of the Kappa Chapter of Zeta Tau Alpha at UT and has been on both the Executive Boar as well as Programs Council.
So far one of Sarah's job experiences especially relevant to her major is that she occasionally blogs for ScoreMore, which is one of the most highly noted promotional entities in the country for live music. Her posts can be found here. This job requires her to be extremely proficient in HTML, Wordpress and Google Reader. She hopes to get more writing jobs under her belt while still at UT and is thinking about working for The Daily Texan this summer.
Sarah's hobbies include watching documentaries (her favorites are by Louis Theroux) and reading blogs on such things as criminology, oddities around the world, outer space, strange people and fashion/pop culture. She is too "go-go-go" for her own good and has a great time being out on the town in ATX as much as she can. Sarah absolutely loves movies and searches the web for the obscure cult favorites, but her own favorites are anything by Quentin Tarantino, namely Inglourious Basterds. Lastly, she devours new music daily and loves everything from the Red Hot Chili Peppers to Kendrick Lamar to Keith Urban to Daft Punk. Of course, she also really loves writing.
As for career aspirations, Sarah plans to move up to New York City and live in Manhattan right after college and be a journalist. She doesn't care if she hast to live poor as a church mouse for a few years, it's where she says she knows she needs to be. She has big dreams and wants to share other people's "weirdness" with the world to make a difference by making people feel less alone.
For now, she's living one day at a time and truly enjoying each one.
